Third graders created these wonderful Pumpkin Zentangles with words of thanksgiving incorporated into them…we had lots of fun letting our pen doodle and create!

Whether used to disguise, transform or decorate mask making has always fascinated children. The third grade students have enjoyed incorporating their names into the design of their paper mask. Working with the art concepts of symmetrical balance and contrasting colors the masks are quite stunning! Working with pattern and watercolor pencils, third graders created these awesome fish paintings to complement their Students have been very excited to begin our clay unit. We are making Fantasy Fish and the imagination and creativity is just "flowing". This unit focuses on forming and hand building the clay. Texture and pattern will also be incorporated into their designs. Check back to see the finished products! The Chicago Architecture unit allowed students to work with buildings that they were very familiar with, especially after their field trip to the city! We learned how to create an illusion of space and depth in our drawings we also worked with hatching and cross-hatching to show value change in our drawings. Watercolor washes were also used in these pieces.
Integrating with their Chicago unit of study, students are creating a skyline painting using pen and ink and watercolors. We learned how artists use one-point perspective to give the illusion of buildings going back into space. Working with hatching, cross-hatching and stippling, students added details and visual interest to their buildings. |
