The fourth graders and the multi-age 3/4 classes will visit the Art Institute of Chicago in October. The students will participate in a docent-led tour entitled "Stories in Art". They will be learning how to be an "Art Detective" asking questions like "What do I see?" and "What might happen next?" The answer to these questions will help them to understand what a piece of artwork is communicating to them.
Each year during the month of May, the Arlington Heights Memorial Library hosts an art show of District 25 students artwork. The artwork is located in the main lobby area. Be sure to take a look at all the wonderful and creative pieces of art created by the students. Could it really finally be here? We have been watching 9 robin birds outside the art room window eat berries from the Cherry Blossom tree…one day they had snow on their tails! Despite the delay in the warm weather, students in the art room are busy with many projects this season. Click on the "What's happening in the Art Room" individual grade levels to find out more! The holiday tradition of drawing the Grinch continues...students are creating some very creative grinches! This year we focused on what tradition means to all of us and of course we reviewed the character of the Grinch and what he learned from the people of Who-ville. When asked what is one word they would use to describe the holiday season...students answered: "Fun, Giving, Sharing, Family, Friends, Love..." I hope your holidays are filled with these and more! Mrs. Miller will be available for conferences on Monday, November 20th from 8:00 -11:00 and again from 1:00-8:00...just stop in the art room!
This week the 4th graders visited the Art Institute in Chicago. We went on a docent led tour of "Stories in Art." The day was just perfect!
The weather did not cooperate last Friday so, we installed our pinwheels on Monday! As the wind gently blew our pinwheels spreading peace...students laughed and smiled as they created the installation. What a great day to spread peace! Working with Radial Symmetry design, students have been busy creating their pinwheels for peace. We will install the pinwheels on Friday, September 20th! |
